Driving Me Buggy!
Wednesday, June 25, 2008
So, when we first moved here last year, I was overjoyed when I realized that there were hardly any mosquitoes at all - especially compared to back home in Ohio. Well, let me tell you, unfortunately, the other bugs make up for the lack of mosquitoes.
I have already mentioned in previous posts about how horrible the ticks are here this year. We're not talking just regular 'see them and pull them off of you ticks'. We are talking these itty-bitty microscopic stupid things which are about the size of the tip of a needle. When you are lucky enough to see one on you and pull it off, it leaves a giant, hard welt, which subsequently hurts and itches for days.
Y'all know what chiggars are? Neither did I until I moved here. Never had a freaking chiggar in my entire life... until I moved here. Now, I am covered in them. Chiggars are unseen bugs, which burrow into your skin pores. They leave 'bites' similar to mosquitoes, but - let me tell you - NOTHING itches nonstop like chiggars. I knew they like to get in where your clothes fit tight, such as your waistband or your socks. SO, I made sure to keep those areas covered and sprayed with repellent. Well, I guess I should have just gone fishing in my swimwear, because I still managed to get covered in chiggars, and now, I am itching like mad... all day long... and all night - there is nothing that relieves these stupid things! Do I sound frustrated? Good! Because I am!

Blowing In the Wind

I'm wondering - is it ever NOT windy here in The Middle of Nowhere, Missouri?
Seriously!

Stormy Day
Tuesday, May 13, 2008
I'm filling in at the insurance ageny today.
I got here over twenty minutes early, because I was trying to beat a thunderstorm.
Sometimes, I feel like all the weather is here is thunderstorms and high winds.
This is my last day working here. They are sad. I feel guilty for skipping out on them, but I have no choice - I have to earn a full-time income.
You know that your dogs rule your life when you are telling your husband, "No, you can't go anywhere today, because I have to work... So, you can't leave, beause that would leave the dogs home alone during a thunderstorm." I'm not too big of a person to admit that my dogs own me.
I have a sinus infection now. I'm not sure what I did to deserve this. I had not been sick for a very, very long time. In fact, Hubs was even saying, "Misty never gets sick. She's too mean to get sick, I guess." Then, I got that flu he had, which was all in my chest. After two weeks of that, I had a bad sore throat for several days. I guess it was all just moving from my chest to my head/face. Oh joy. My face feels like I've been in a fist fight. Oh well, it could be worse.
Well, I better go get some other things done. I'll be back :-)

Gifts of Nature
Monday, March 3, 2008
I love free stuff! The other night, I stayed up way too late, because my best bud sent me a link to a site where you can sign up to receive free samples, and I was busy signing up to receive all kinds of things. Within a few weeks, I will start receiving free samples of everything from cereal to magazines to marketing pens. Yet, nothing is as exciting and wonderful as the free gifts of beauty we receive from nature. The photo below is an example of such a gift. I was so taken by this beauty, I discovered I was standing in the middle of the road, starting at the sky, and holding my breath. I was in complete awe, and I can't describe the incredible rush I felt for having the opportunity to witness such a beautiful spectacle.

A Beautiful Goodnight
Sunday, February 24, 2008
Yes, I realize it is Sunday and not Friday... I know it isn't Sky Watch Friday day... but, I just couldn't resist posting these now. Going for a walk and capturing photos of a beautiful sunset is such a passion and natural high for me. So, when I get some photos that I think are pretty good, I get excited and can't wait to post them. Here's to hoping I get some more sky shots before Friday ;-) (Oh, and just in case I don't, I saved the best sunset shot from tonight and didn't post it)

This was the closest thing to a tornado I've ever photographed. The scary part was that within minutes of my taking this photo, my husband and his parents went driving to town which is about 40 minutes away. Needless to say, I was worrying (I do that - I'm a worrier) the whole time. Other than all the detours because of downed trees, their trip was fine. By the way, I was standing in my front yard when I took this photo.

Sky Watch Friday #6

These cows have become my friends (they are not ours), and when there is a beautiful sunset (which is quite often here, it seems), I feel like they expect me to come walking down the road with my camera hanging around my neck. Then, it's almost as if they pose in front of the sunset for me. Since, around here, I'm already called "that crazy little woman with the big camera", I don't worry too much if someone sees or hears me asking the cows to move a little to the right or left so they are centered in front of the sunset colors the best ;-) I realize this photo could really benefit from some PhotoShop work, and my husband has already been altering this photo in PhotoShop, but I like to post my photos untouched. It's just a 'thing' with me.

Heads Or Tails *In the Sky or In the Water*
Tuesday, December 11, 2007

One of my favorite bloggers, Skittles has started a Tuesday meme. It is LOTS of fun-so you'll wanna join us right away! If you click on the Heads or Tails logo - it will take you to the post to tell you more about the meme.
This week's topic is Heads - in the sky or space; Or, Tails - in or under the water.
I'm combining the two...We are in the middle of an ice storm, which is supposed to last until midnight tonight. We are having freezing rain and expected thunderstorms (from the sky). Now, everything is under a layer of ice (frozen water).
Sorry my posts are so similar this week - but I'm trying to get the posts in while we still have electric.
