Painful Worries
Wednesday, April 16, 2008
I have been having trouble sleeping lately. I've been worried about two of my best blogging friends who are having medical problems, my husband is having medical problems, and my BBFF is very worried about one of her best blogging friends. In addition to staying up half the night worrying about people I dearly care about, financial problems are keeping me up the other half of the night.
However, I don't want to be Miss Gloomy. So, I'm going to tell you a funny story, because, I've always got a story to tell. Here's a little weird thing about me. I have a history of hurting myself when I'm worrying about someone I care about. No, it's not on purpose, and it isn't due to my mind wandering and not paying attention. It's just something that seems to happen. Don't worry, it's never a very serious injury.
When I was worried about my best-friend's sister, who was in labor, after being told there could be serious problems for the baby, I hurt myself. Yep, my best-friend called me, told me her sister was in labor, and asked me to pray. I hung up the phone walked out the door to head to work, caught the heel of my shoe on the top step of our deck and fell face first off the deck onto the cement walk. Got myself up, realized I was bleeding and had tore my dress, got in my vehicle, and went to work. The baby was born, there were no problems, and that little girl is doing wonderfully now.
When my grandmother was in the nursing home and hospice called my work to say that I needed to get there to be with her, I ran to the nursing home doors and swung them open, catching my toe in the process (I was wearing sandals). So, I had to go into the nursing home and ask my favorite nurse, if he could please give me a band-aid, because I was bleeding all over the floor. Grandma is now with Grandpa, and I feel their presence every day.
My cousin's wife (also one of my best friends) was diagnosed with breast cancer. This woman means the world to me. Anyway, the day before she was scheduled for her first lumpectomy surgery, I was working on our farm. I pulled the pin out of a tractor hitch, so Hubs could park a piece of equipment. The equipment shifted and pinched my hand between the equipment and the hitch bar. I ended up with a bruised hand and a pretty little gash. hehe. My cousin's wife is now cancer free.
One of my best blogging friends was going in for a medical test, which she was very worried about. She wasn't worried about the test as much as she was worried about the results, which she would find out immediately. So, naturally, since I'm a obsessive worrier, I was worrying too. While feeding the cats, Mokey got under my feet, I tripped over her and slammed my head into the barn wall. My friend's test results showed that everything was fine.
So, you'd think that from now on, whenever I am worried about someone, I should just stay in my house where it's safe, right? Well, not exactly. You see, we have all our bathroom stuff on the floor of our bedroom, since we don't really have a bathroom right now. The night before last, I was taking my sweatpants off and lost my balance. I tried to stop myself from falling by throwing my other foot down to balance myself. That would have been fine, if I hadn't slammed my foot down on our tooth water pik machine. Yep, I cut and bruised the bottom of my foot. When Hubs saw it the next morning, he shook his head and said, "Only MY wife could injure her foot on a tooth water pik!" (I'm seriously hoping that this injury means that everything will be just fine for the people I am worrying about, since past experiences have turned out fine after I hurt myself)
Come on. It's OK to laugh! Really, I've become an expert at laughing at myself.
I think that from now on, whenever I am worried about someone, I better stay in bed. Maybe I should go buy some paintings and a wall sconce, because my ceiling and walls are getting rather boring as I continue to stare at them.

Heads or Tails *Fool*
Monday, March 31, 2008
Heads or Tails has its very own home now! If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome new HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!
I have three step-children. My step-daughters are 23 and 20. My step-son is from my husband's second marriage (Yep, I'm proof that third time is a charm hehe), and he will be 18 this month (Lord, help us!).
The picture is of the 20-year-old step-daughter. No, I'm not going to call her a fool in this post! Well, maybe I will, just to pick on her. She is one of my best friends. She is the one we took to Nashville for her graduation gift, and we had an absolute blast. (Boy could I tell you some stories from that trip!)We never have to hide anything from the other. We share our secrets, and, we aren't afraid to let loose and act completely silly and foolish together. Oh, if you ever talk to her, don't let her fool ya - SHE's the bigger dork! She'll try to tell you that I'm more goofy, but really, she is. hehehehe (OK, I probably AM more goofy, but that's why she likes me!)
We talk about absolutely every thing from the latest "You Might Be a Redneck" joke, acne treatment, music (she LOVES music), work, relationships - you name it.
We have a great friendship, for which I am truly thankful.
