Fishing for Eternity

For about a year and a half, my dad had been taking care of an elderly fishing buddy of his. This gentleman had no family to be there with or for him. So, at first, my dad would just go over and visit with his friend and listen to his stories. Then, as the friend became more sick and couldn't leave his home, Dad got a Power of Attorney so that he could pay the bills and deposit checks at the bank. As things got even worse, Dad would prepare meals and do the household chores. Eventually, Dad was taking care of everything for his friend. However, Dad was just a friend, who had no ability to make health decisions for this man that he held in so much respect.

The man didn't want want to go to the hospital, because even though he had insurance such as MetLife, he was afraid of the bills he would accrue. He also hadn't planned for what would happen after he was gone. He knew he was sick. Yet, without family, he felt there was no need for things such as burial insurance.

My heart is saddened that this man, whom my dad held in such high regard felt that no one would mourn him when he was gone. Therefore, he didn't concern himself with burial insurance for seniors or even getting the proper care he deserved while he was alive.

However, I do find comfort knowing that he is no longer sick and frail. Instead, he will spend eternity casting and reeling in fish. :-) I also know my dad will forever keep his knowledge, insight, and stories in his heart. So, keep on fishing, friend, and you may not have expected it, but you will always remain in our hearts.

Movies, TV, & Savin' Money

My office partner at work is absolutely obsessed with Black Friday shopping and Christmas. She has Black Friday shopping so planned and thought out, that many of us at work tell her she should become a Black Friday consultant. She takes her shopping for deals seriously, I tell ya! I, on the other hand, prefer to avoid crowds and shop from my home. So, while she's out shopping in the stores, I'll shop on my computer. She will be very interested to hear about all the ongoing deals I discovered at Family Video's website, and she'll probably get a few things for her kids.

They aren't making everyone wait until Black Friday. They've already started the deals! The "Stocking Stuffers" is already live, where there are new movies added every week. Get this, these are DVD stocking stuffers under $5!!! ALL the movies in the stocking stuffers section are under $5! Honestly, I was just on the stocking stuffers page, and I picked out five movies I want... just on this week's page. I can only imagine how many I'll pick out next week.

Family Video is also going to have a Black Friday Sale. There will be great prices on DVDs, blu ray, and more; however, you won't be able to see the prices until Black Friday week. TV seasons will be on sale too, and I really, really hope to get Dharma and Greg (hint hint Hubs)! I wouldn't mind owning all the seasons of Fringe either. Oh, sorry, I guess I should write my Christmas list on a separate post, huh?

This is my cousin-in-law's dog. Her name is Wiggles, and she goes everywhere in the truck with our cousin. She visited with me for a while one day last week while Hubs and his cousin went down the road to check cattle.

She likes my fingernails and has decided I'm a pretty good dog scratcher. hehe She's a total sweetheart, if ya can't tell by that wonderful smile in the picture.

I took this photo yesterday morning, after spending quite a long time photographing some whitetail deer. I liked the way the morning sun affected this photo. I also like the bokeh.

Since I was off work, I had all kinds of plans for yesterday as far as how many housework projects I was going to get done. In addition to feeding the dogs and bottle-feeding an orphan calf, I did dishes, cleaned the stove, and a load of laundry... then I was unable to resist the gorgeous day, and ended up fishing the rest of the day. Shame on me!

I took this photo of this caterpillar, because it caught my eye. When I viewed it on the computer screen, I fell in love with its colors. Yes, when you look at it, you may not think it has many colors, but I suggest you click on the photo and view it larger. This caterpillar has orange and brown and metallic blue on it!!!!!!! How cool is that?!?!

After showing it to one of my very best buds (who helps me identify my critters), we decided it's a caterpillar of a Buckeye butterfly. That doesn't surprise me at all, considering the Buckeye butterflies have been excessively plentiful in my area this year. That's fine with me, because I'm originally from Ohio, so I'm all for the Buckeyes (Ohio mascot)!!!

Once-In-A-Lifetime Gifts of Adventure

Believe it or not, it's almost October!!! Heck, it's officially fall already! I have NO idea where the summer went. I feel like I blinked, and it was gone.

Anyway, while I'm not looking forward to the cold, the snow, and the bad driving conditions, I AM looking forward to Christmas. Seriously, who doesn't enjoy Christmas? Soon, we'll be watching football, then eating leftover turkey sandwiches, and getting up early for shopping. Well, SOME of you will be getting up early for shopping. I don't fall into that category. I prefer to sleep in, and take my time browsing for unique and special Christmas gifts online. Then they are shipped to my door, and I avoid fighting the crowds and traffic.

I took this photo last weekend (before injuring my back again), and I could tell while taking it that I was going to like it. It may not be a great, quality photo, but I like the composition of it. I showed it to my buddy, and he immediately tried to figure out if they were Barn Swallows or Cliff Swallows. So, he told me to go out and 'shoot' them again. I obliged, but when I went back outside, the birds had gone for the day. I think they are probably Barn Swallows, but I'm not an expert.

I have lots of friends, a big family, and many in-laws. I used to be able to keep track of all of their birthdays and anniversaries and send them cards to let them know I was thinking of them. Beautiful Landscaping

I took this photo outside the university where I work. They have lots of beautiful trees, shrubs, and flowers all around the university, and sometimes, when I need to walk away from the desk for a bit, I go outside and take photos of the flowers. This long window planter is right by the door where I go in and out of work.

They also have a flower garden with an iron bench. It has hydrangeas, roses, and many other flowers, in addition to some garden planters throughout the whole area. It really is beautiful, and it's a nice break from work to be able to walk out the door, take a few steps and be surrounded by the beauty.

The landscaping is very nicely done with flowering trees and outdoor planters all around the building. Soon, the flowers will be gone for the season, but then fall will be here, and I will get to enjoy the turning of the leaves on the decorative trees. I'll try to photograph some of those for you too... I'm sure there will be more times when I'll need to walk away from the desk and phone for a bit. LOL

Twice this week, and I think it may have even been two days in a row, I saw "big birds" that I wish I could get closer to in order to properly photograph them. The first "big bird" was huge, and I took several terrible shots of it (because I was far away from it), just so I could come home, put them on the computer, and figure out what the bird was. I think I've determined that it's an owl, but what kind of owl I have no idea. It was a gloomy day (which would be why the owl was still out), I was across the pond from the bird, and when I started to cross the pond, it flew. Therefore, I only got crappy "what is this bird?" photos. Therefore, you will not see those photos. LOL

The next "big bird" was definitely one I recognized. It, also, was across the pond from me, but I had better lighting conditions. I wasn't able to get a shot I really like, but I'm not too disappointed with the photos I did get. So, I decided to share one with you...

The other day, Hubs called and told me there was a photography opportunity for me. However, I was on the house phone with my aunt, so I didn't find out where the opportunity was. All he said before hanging up was "Thousands of dragonflies". (He probably knew that would get my attention, and I wouldn't be able to forget about it. LOL) Later, I told my step-son about the call, and he replied "Yeah! Down by the water tower! There's thousands of them!"

Beautiful Venetian Masks

Recently, I discovered a site which sells some very beautiful and detailed Venetian masks. Over the weekend, I spent a long time browsing the beautiful products and picturing where I could use them in my home. In fact, when I was younger and had first met Hubs, I had several similar masks which Hubs really liked. He and I carefully arranged them on our bedroom wall, and it looked so cool!

I don't think the masks I had were real Venetian masks like the ones on this website though. The ones I had weren't nearly as detailed.

The website tells a bit of history on Venetian masks. They are a tradition of Venice, Italy, and they are most popular during the Carnival of Venice.

I was unaware that there are several different kinds of Venetian masks. For example, the Bauta mask covers the entire face, and the Columbine is a half mask.

I think one of the full face masks with the black/aqua tiger feathers is absolutely gorgeous! I also really like the Jolly Music masks.

I'm thinking some of these masks would look beautiful hanging in my new bedroom when it is finished. I'll have to add them to my wishlist.

It's my birthday (Saturday), and I'm getting up early to go hang out with some of my favorite people (co-workers) at a HUGE yard sale. So, I'm posting my Camera-Critters early, to avoid having too much to do when I'm already waking up early on my birthday (isn't that illegal or something???). Some of my photography prints will be for sale at the yard sale! I priced them kind of high for a yard sale, but that's because if they don't sell, I don't mind. I'll just enter them in some other fairs and contests. It would be a really neat birthday gift if some of them DID sell though! So, wish me luck!

So, I'm double dipping in the Sunday meme pool. ;-) Besides, let me tell you about something, and you'll completely understand. No, I'm not going to tell you about clinicallix, I'm going to tell you about my weather (yes, again). You see, we've had an excess of rain and thunderstorms. We've got flooding, and our garden (and basement) is just a big square of standing water. Yesterday, it stormed and rained all day long. The coming week's forecast calls for storms and rain all week. However, today.... well, today is absolutely gorgeous. So, I have no choice but to step away from the computer and enjoy the day!

Sometimes, when you're out shooting photos, you capture something unexpected. When it's nature, you can't plan or compose the photo. You get what you get... that's nature. Well, I had that happen to me with this photo. The Robin landed near me on a fence post. So, I thought, "O.K., you want your photo taken." I brought the camera to my eye to oblige the nice Robin, and just as I was ready to press the shutter button, a gust of wind blew through. The below photo captured that exact moment. I think both I and the Robin were a bit surprised, because after I took the camera away from my eye, we both looked at each other like, "Hmph, wasn't expecting that!" At that point, I wasn't thinking about Lipovox anymore, my attention was focused on my unique bond I just formed with a sweet, little Robin who had simply thought it would pose for a portrait.

ABC Wednesday T is for Turkey

I have been wanting to participate in ABC Wednesday, on a regular basis, ever since I discovered this meme. Unfortunately, though, work, life, sleep, a husband with a bad back which might require surgery, and things such as searching for the best ab workout get in the way. I think I need to stick a Post-It Note on my forehead, which reminds me to participate in this meme! Wait! I wouldn't see the note unless I looked in the mirror (which I avoid), would I? Maybe I need to program my computer to start frantically beeping at me on Tuesday evening! Yeah, and it could start flashing on the screen "participate in ABC Wednesday NOW!" Yeah, that might do it.

Ruby Tuesday Green Bottle Fly Needing Attention

I happen to know that the wonderful hostess of this fun meme considers the color pink to be a variation of red, and she, therefore, deems is appropriate for this meme. Besides, if you view the below photo large, by clicking on it, you will see the eyes of the fly are ruby red. :-) Just sayin!

This fly must have been wanting some attention, wanting to sell me some hydroxycut advanced, or wanting to be America's Next Top Fly Model, because I was actually just trying to photograph the flower. However, just as I was ready to press the shutter, this Green Bottle Fly flew onto the flower insisting I photograph it also. You know me, I obliged.

My buddy who identifies my critters is used to my goofiness, though. We talk about serious stuff, and we even talk about medical stuff such as his Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, and even the best vitamins for men and women. However, some of our best times are when I'm making him crack up laughing at my complete goofiness. Yeah, I'm sweet like that - make a fool of myself just to make people laugh. Sure... I do it on purpose. ;-)

SOOC Sunday I B Buzzin

Straight out of the Camera Sunday is a really fun meme. It can also be challenging, if you are used to altering your photos regularly. I don't generally do many major adjustments to my photos. Normally, I crop, sharpen a little, brighten, and boost the color a little. However, when it comes to Straight Out of the Camera Sunday, I refrain from doing any of those adjustments. In a way, it makes you work at being a better photographer, because you are trying to capture something great in one shot, without tweaking it later.

In the below photo, I liked how I captured the movement of the bumblebee, who was getting ready to go to the next Clover flower. I bet these critters, with their little wings and big bodies, sometimes wish they has some weight loss pills to make getting around a lot easier. ;-)

The spring and summer seasons are my favorite of all. I LOVE warm weather. I LOVE dragonflies and butterflies. I LOVE warm weather. I LOVE fishing and camping. I LOVE warm weather. I LOVE flowers. Did I mention that I love warm weather? Just wanted to make sure. Unfortunately, though, many people dread this time of year... even if they love most everything that goes with it, they unfortunately are dealt with trying to find some effective and serious allergy relief. I think the below photo helps show why...

Heck the last time I posted here was one week ago. *sigh* You see, I've been frantically running on the treadmills of life, marriage, and work, and I can't find the 'slow down to walk' button! I'd like to be like the little sparrow in the photo and be able to just stop, look around, and ponder things for awhile. Oh, let me tell ya, I've been pondering LOTS of things, I just haven't had the chance to stop for very long. That's why this photo appeals to me, because it makes me feel like this little birdie is just relaxed and pondering life. You don't always have to be in a hurry and constantly doing something... I could learn a lot from this bird.

Today's Flowers

I'm not sure what these little wildflowers are called, but there are clumps of them here and there throughout the pasture where I go for my walks. I think I'm going to have to go to Amazon books and order some reference books. I've realized that I really enjoy learning what the real name of things I photograph are. I say 'real name', because I have a habit of creating my own nickname for things. One of my best friends will identify the subject with it's real name, but always wants to know what my name for it was. hehe My buddy is more into bugs and birds than flowers though. My dad, on the other hand, is very knowledgeable about flowers and plants, and if he doesn't know about it, he's got a reference book we use. I just love walking with my dad and learning from him. Even at almost 35 years old, this girls still has a lot she can learn from her daddy. ;-)

Ruby Tuesday Red Tulips

My co-worker is looking to buy a new camera. She's trying to decided between a top of the line point and shoot or a DSLR. She's been researching and asking all the right questions while trying to make her decision. She's just like me, we both research like mad before taking that leap to spend money on ourselves. Heck, we'd probably research for months before deciding to buy phentermine. Anyway, another co-worker brought his Nikon DSLR for her to try for a few days. One of those days, she and I took a lunch and went to another college campus nearby so she could try out the camera he lent her and also get a chance to try out my camera. We wandered around snapping photos and talking about cameras. The above photo is one that I took during our fun little photo-lunch.

Macro Monday Rhubarb

Two years ago, we planted a couple rhubarb plants. Unfortunately, we haven't had any rhubarb from those plants yet, because we're so busy that we forget to tend to it. Therefore, it gets too big (from what we've been told), and then it flowers, and it's supposed to be cut before it flowers (from what we've been told). Oh well, it does make for some interesting photos though (kinda looks like it needs some acne light).

Please keep Hubs in your thoughts today. He has a ruptured disc in his back, and it is pinching a nerve. It is to the point where he can't stand it anymore. He doesn't sleep at night, and he can't get comfortable because of the pain. He meets with a specialist this morning... in about an hour. I pray that this doctor will know what needs to be done and will see that it needs to be done immediately. I can't stand seeing Hubs like this, and I feel so helpless not being able to do anything for him.

This photo was taken on the same day as my Macro Monday and Camera-Critters photos on My Dogs Keep Me Sane. I've been trying for a very, very long time to get a decent water drop photo. This one may not be perfect, but it is the best I've taken so far. So, I decided to use it for Macro Monday. It's not as good as the macro photo on the badge, but it does remind me of that photo a little bit. I really wasn't sure the best route to go when trying water drop photos, so I tried some with the flash and some without (no ceiling lights available outside LOL).

On My Dogs Keep Me Sane (where my Looking at the Sky on Friday post just happens to be my 1000th post on that blog, and where sometime this weekend there won't be any insurance marketing, but there will be a giveaway to celebrate said milstone - just sayin'), I explained why I got in a mood to reminisce and look through photos which were taken before I owned my DSLR camera.

To Shut Down Or Not To Shut Down

Lately, I've been seriously considering something. At one point, I think I've made the best decision, and then, a few hours later or the next day, I think that previous 'best decision' is now not a good decision. Subsequently, I'm still seriously considering something, because I have a horrible disease which causes me to be chronically unable to make a decision... such as which laptop to purchase, for example.

This decision is quite important though, and I don't want to make the wrong one. While it doesn't involve Lipofuze, it does involve blogs and blogging. More specifically, it involves MY blogs and blogging. More specifically, it seriously involves THIS blog.

You see... I'm considering closing this blog and devoting all of my blogging time, energy, and creativity to my main blog, My Dogs Keep Me Sane/Misty's Musings. I've realized that many of the blogs which I frequent on a regular or daily basis because I truly enjoy them, are written by people who have one blog. Therefore, all of their blogging efforts are focused on ONE blog. Several of them have different sections to that one blog, which essentially makes it almost like more than one blog. You see, I enjoy writing - I've enjoyed writing ever since I learned to write. My original passion was actually writing... yes, that was prior to photography. I love blogging, and I love writing a post which I think is creative, humorous, touching, or well thought-out. However, lately, with three jobs, online college, three dogs, a farm, a marriage, household chores, etc, I find that my blogging takes the backseat. Honestly, this is because when I think of blogging, I think of HAVING to come up with TWO posts; Or, on Saturday, THREE posts. Then, all my creative energy goes draining out of my body, and I end up making a post which is very disappointing to me. It's like I posted 'just to post', and I don't like that. I feel like I'm ruining my blog and doing a disgrace to the creative talent which I actually give myself credit for having (and trust me, I hardly EVER give myself any credit). But... then... there's the flip side...

I've put a lot of work into this blog. Will my followers of this blog read my other blog? That may sound trivial, but honestly, if no one reads your blog(s) (like currently, other than on Camera-Critters day), what's the point? Will I regret it if I delete this blog?

As you can see, I can't decide... I can never decide... on anything. I'd really like some advice or opinions, but I fear that I've already caused this blog to have no regular readers. Anyway - I'm going to put a poll in the sidebar... that way, you can give me your honest and anonymous opinion. So, if you have a free 5 seconds, I'd appreciate your vote on the poll.

As you can tell from my recent posts, I spend a lot of time at my backyard pond. In fact, I generally walk back there several times a day. Lately, I've been seeing a lot of the scene above. The turtles lie on the banks of the pond and sun themselves. Sounds like a great idea to me! I'd love to hang out by the pond all day and just kick back in some lawn chairs or log furniture and sun myself! Yep, I like the way these turtles think! Of course, I'd have to have my camera and my fishing pole and tackle with me too. ;-)

Fruits & Veggies

Tomorrow is a big day in my and Hub's lives. First thing tomorrow, Hubs is going to work cattle. This means treating the cattle with vaccinations, etc. It's not an easy job. Trust me... it's not an easy job.

Then, after Hubs (and the people who volunteer and are hired to help) get finished working cattle, Hubs and I are going together to the 'city' (I use that term lightly) where I work. We are headed to a store. No, we aren't going to purchase office furniture (although we could really use some), we're going to purchase vegetable plants and seeds, because we FINALLY have a garden plowed and ready to grow some yummy stuff! Do I seem too excited about this? I shouldn't. Have you seen how much vegetables and fruit cost at the grocery store??? We already planted fruit trees and bushes a couple years ago. So, they should be bearing some fruit either this year or next.

So, yes, I'm excited about having a garden. Yes, I realize that wouldn't excite most people, but, hey, I take pleasure in the smaller things in life. hehe

Yes, today is "Tax Day". Yes, the majority of us absolutely dread this day. However, for me, "Tax Day" has another meaning. A very special meaning. You see, today is my BFF's birthday!

We've been best friends since 4th grade. Once we became friends, we became inseperable. We've been through absolutely everything together. We've been there with each other through the accomplishments, the failures, the excitement, the let-downs, the anticipation, the disappointment. Through boyfriends and heartbreaks; family drama and high school squabbles; sunshine or rain... we've been best friends. We've had fun together, and we've gotten in trouble together, when we got a little too big for our breeches. (Hahahahaha, sorry, I just couldn't resist. Yes, I know I'm corny.) And, sometimes we had fun while we got in trouble together. hehe. Yeah, BFF's roll like that.

I didn't have any 'blood-related' siblings, but I had her and her family. They all mean the absolute world to me, and she will always be my 'sister'.

Nature is Waking

We went from temperature highs of high seventies and even eighty last week to low fifties and frost warnings this week. Now, here I sit with a nasty sinus infection. Ugh.

However, we are supposed to have wonderful weather for a very beautiful weekend! Sinus infection or not, you know where I'll be, and you know I'll have the camera around my neck.

Things are actually showing signs of blooming here, and that's very exciting. Hopefully last night's frost, and the frost expected for tonight, won't hinder nature's awakening too much.

By the way, you'll have to forgive me for talking about the weather all the time. First of all, I'm a nature addict and a nature photographer, so, of course, I pay attention to the weather. Second, we are farmers. Farmers keep a close eye on the weather and continuously discuss the weather. That's just what farmers do. We could discuss the best eye cream for wrinkles, but the weather plays much more of a factor in our lives. So, you'll just have to forgive my excessive weather discussions.

True Colours Thursday Lavender

I call the photo below "Purple Sunbathers". I just thought that was an appropriate title, because... well, the flowers are purple (lavender to be exact), and they seem to be bathing in the sun. Don't you think?

Sometimes, my titles may seem a bit corny, but I have to tell ya - coming up with a great title for each photo you take can become very difficult. Sometimes, I come up with some pretty good titles. Other times, I draw a blank. That's when I enlist the help of one of my best friends. He and I just start throwing titles back and forth at each other via the instant messenger. We both know that when the right title is thrown out there, we'll both know it immediately. It has worked every time, and I'm sure I'll be enlisting his help for many years to come. It's April Fools Day. I feel I must shout that from the rooftops. It's for everyone's benefit - I'm just looking out for all of you. Did you hear me? Are you reading? I'm trying to help you here. IT IS APRIL FOOLS DAY. Do NOT let yourself be made a fool. Be alert. Be aware. Be on guard. Do NOT let your spouse make a fool of you like mine did. He, who should have got a free life insurance quote before this date in 2009. After last year, I made it very clear to my Hubs all week that I was VERY aware of Thursday's date. I repeated that several times last night also, to which he replied, "I won't do anything this year, because you'll be expecting it." Yeah, suuuuuure he won't do anything this year. My defenses are up, and my trust, even in my beloved spouse, is non-existant today. Hey, drastic times call for drastic measures!

I've been slacking on participating in memes for several weeks now. Heck, I've been slacking on blogging, period. Sometimes my 'real life' responsibilities get hectic and get the best of me, and when I get time to blog, I'm just too dang tired. I know that's a sorry excuse, but I could be telling you that I was busy getting a skin id. Anyway, I'm sure you all can relate to life getting hectic, so I'm just being honest, as I always am on my blogs. Do I wish my life were less hectic? Are you kidding me? Of course I do! Today is a very, special day! Today is my step-daughter's birthday. Isn't she beautiful, cute, and adorable all at the same time?!?! No need for fat loss pills with this girl - she's perfect just the way she is. She's just as sweet, kind-hearted, and wonderful as she is beautiful too. She's also completely spoiled rotten by that guy in the photo, whom she will be marrying in December. Since she wants to be a Wedding Planner, she's been planning her own wedding right down to the smallest detail, and it's going to be spectacular.

I asked her via instant messenger yesterday what she had planned for her birthday. Part of the plan was grocery shopping, and if it's nice outside, yard work. She's really gonna live it up, don't ya think? hehe

Whatever you do today, Rajee, I hope your day is as spectacular and wonderful as you are. Happy Birthday to not only my step-daughter, but one of my best friends. LOVE YOU!!!

Random Thougts & Goals

This is just a random photo... kinda like my thoughts are lately. hehe Seriously, have you ever had so many thoughts and so many ideas running through your mind at the same time that you can't keep them straight, and you don't know which one to pay attention to first? Yeah, that's pretty much how my brain is working lately. I guess one of the thoughts could be about anti aging face cream, since I've got a birthday with a 5 at the end of it coming up. But thoughts like that don't cross my mind when I've got other important things to think about. You see, I've got a goal... a very hard to reach goal in mind... and I've got so many thoughts running through my head about trying to reach that goal. That's how I get when I get my sights set on one particular thing. I think maybe I should start a list of all the ideas and all the pros and cons of each idea. Lists usually help me put it all in focus.

Walkin' WooHoo

WooooooooooHOOOOOOOOOOOO I got to go on a walk today after I got home from work. Yes, I had work for my second job to do, but Hubs told me to let it wait and go for a walk. He said I deserved it. He's a good Hubs. :-)

So, I went for a walk, which always helps me unwind from my day, and when I'm on a nature walk is when I'm truly grounded. I think more clearly, feel more energized, and, I may not spend much time thinking about acne scar cream, but I do even come up with some pretty good ideas and motivation while walking. Of course, the whole time I'm also keeping my eyes and ears alert for any critters or other photo opportunities which might come my way.

In fact, I got some really neat critter photos this evening. Oh no... you're not going to convince me to show them to you now! You're going to have to join in Camera-Critters this weekend if you want to see the critter photos. :-)

Routine

I'm a person who likes to have a routine. In fact, I so much like to have a routine that I get all out of sorts if my routine gets messed up. I do things on certain days of the week; I do things at a certain time during the day; I also do things in a certain order. Hmmmm, I'm thinking this is probably a symptom of OCD. I even take my vitamins, but not a fat burner, at the same time of day.

One of my 'routines' involves what I do on Sunday morning. I make my coffee, check my new e-mails, and then I do my homework. Well, I FINALLY just got done with my homework! It took me from 9 o'clock until after 1 o'clock. Geesh. Now, I've got to attempt to get back into the Sunday routine, as the homework certainly took longer than I was anticipating. If you're wondering, the class I'm in now is Adobe Flash. It's fun learning to do animation, but a lot to retain.

Do you have routines or do you just go with the flow? My nerves just got all jumpy when I typed 'go with the flow'... *gasp* I can't imagine. ;-)

It's Just Not Right

It just doesn't seem right. It seems all wrong. I'm telling ya - it just doesn't make sense! Is Mother Nature bipolar??? I'm thinking so.

Thursday, it was 64 degrees and sunny as sunny can be! Oh it was so beautiful. Of course, I didn't get to enjoy any of it, because I was at work.

Yesterday, it was right around 60 degrees and quite nice, until evening. When evening came, so did the winds. It got super windy.

And then there's 'now'... the weekend. Well, we got snow last night, and we've got a forecast of a possible six inches to arrive over the weekend.

NOW (the weekend), we've got winter weather advisories for the entire weekend.

Mother Nature, I ask you. SERIOUSLY??? Do we honestly deserve this?

I'd be looking into prices on Toronto hotels, but I'm not sure if it's any better there! Maybe a cruise... yes, a cruise would be nice!

The following photos are lousy. Don't think I don't realize this. I shouldn't even be posting them. However, they are photos from my nature walks that I took yesterday when I took a mental health day from work (In other words, I took the day off cuz I've been stressed to the max).

The first two photos were taken at dawn. Therefore, they were way too dark. That bums me out, because I think they would have been pretty neat photos otherwise. I like the reflection in the first photo and the movement in the second. These geese were honking at me rather loudly. Maybe they wanted me to go away and leave them in peace. Or, maybe one of them was telling me his name was Jack Georges. Maybe...

The last photo was a result of my sorry attempt to stalk this Bluebird. I've been trying in vain to get a good photo of a Bluebird, but they are quite skittish. So, I only managed to get this Bluebird giving me the cold shoulder. *sigh*

I Envisioned "It" and I Felt Better

I walked to my pond today, and I pictured "it". I could envision "it", and, after the very long and stressful day I had, it made me feel good as I stood there and pictured "it".

I stood at my pond, and I stared at the pond banks, and I suddenly pictured what is in the near future. I saw wildflowers growing with all abandon. Even better, I saw those wildflowers visited by many dragonflies... and butterflies... and bees. Yes, even I, with a fear of bees, look forward to seeing them visiting the wildflowers around my pond.

Yes, I had a stressful day, because of work, not because of gmat prep, but, anyway, when I walked back to my pond to unwind, and I suddenly envisioned what was to come, I felt a little better.

I guess this is a sign that I've got spring fever. Heck, I haven't been able to take a photo-walk for months. I need it, and it's reassuring that it will be there for me... soon.

Yes, you've seen this cow before, and, yes, I seem to be a bit obsessed with her. Hey, sure she may not care about Symbol LS2208, but she's beautiful, and she just seems to pose for the camera. Besides, this photo was taken one year ago... on March 13, 2009. Cool, huh? Yes, it seems that I can almost go through my photo archives and find some photo of some critter on almost any day of the year. Critter obsessed, you say? Pffffttttt... well, O.K. maybe... O.K. fine - probably! I can't help myself... farm animals, pets, bugs, wildlife, birds... I just can't help myself. Do you think I need counseling?

By the way - I think it's hilarious that, if you look closely, it looks like that beautiful cow is standing in the field having a smoke. Go ahead, look closer... I'll wait. Do you see it??? No, she's not having a smoke... it's a piece of straw. HONEST!

House Treats Bloggers Too

Did any of you watch House this week? It was great. And I don't just say that because Wilson was a porn star (which had me cracking up laughing), I say it was great because the patient was a blogger! She shared everything about her life in the blogosphere! Sound familiar? Can you relate? Oh, I'm sure you can. It was really neat to see that blogging has become so popular that it's shown as common on a television show.

This patient blogged mostly about her life. She blogged about her relationships, her illness, and probably about everything else including which hair vitamins she used. At the beginning of the show, she had an argument with her mate, and he came into the room, and stated something like, "You didn't blog about our argument, did you? Tell me you didn't blog about our argument." I couldn't help but laugh. How many times have you had something happen and have another person say, "You better not blog this!" LOL Yep, I can certainly relate.

We're seriously sick of winter around here. Seriously. Like throw ourselves down and have a temper tantrum sick of it... O.K. maybe not to that extreme, but I'm feeling pretty sick of it, I tell ya. Molly and I want to be able to play with our toys outside again. My toy would be my camera, and Molly's toy would be one of her Holee Roller balls. Shhhhh don't say that out loud, cuz she'll go running to the door in anticipation. Don't even spell ball, cuz she knows how it is spelled too. Yes, I'm serious... You say B. A. L. and she's sprinting to the door and then staring at you. Yeah, it's crazy having dogs so intelligent. Sometimes, I wonder who's actually running the household. hehe

Over at Misty's Musings, I've been talking about birds. Over there, I've been talking about the birds that I have and haven't seen at my bird feeders this winter, such as Juncos, Sparrows, Cardinals, Blue Jays, and an annoying Red-Bellied Woodpecker.

The bird in the photo above is one I haven't seen for quite a while, but I sure look forward to seeing it. That's because when the Red-Winged Blackbirds arrive, it also means spring is here. I certainly can't wait for spring to get here this year!

American Idol's Mixed Signals - Thaddeus Johnson

Do you watch American Idol? If you do, were you disappointed with how they have changed things around this season? Are you disappointed, like me, with SEVERAL of the people the sent home? THEN... there's Thaddeus Johnson. Have you heard about this? He's the 16 year old who was the last male to be sent home. The one ALL the judges raved about. The one they told "You did nothing wrong; you were great." But, they sent him home. What?!?! How's that make sense? THEN... one of the top 24 was deemed ineligible, so there was a spot open for a male contestant. If you have heard about this, then did you immediately assume that Thaddeus Johnson would fill that vacant spot? I certainly assumed that. Well, apparently, I was wrong. They chose someone else to fill the spot. Someone I had never even heard of (maybe I should look him up on web directories, I dunno).

In my opinion, none of this makes sense, but, then again, what do I know? ;-)

Ignorance, Pain, & More... So Much More

It seems that some of my readers are interested in learning more about Fibromyalgia. I'm sure there are some of you out there also interested in learning about homemade remedies for acne, but I have no experience or expertise in that matter to share with you. So, I'll stick to what I do know, and that is, unfortunately, Fibro. No, I didn't start this blog to educate people on chronic pain. However, if I have knowledge and experience to share, then it's my duty to share that knowledge and experience. That's what blogging is all about, right?

Other than the pain, which is the obvious symptom of Fibro, there are many more symptoms and conditions which, unfortunately, come along with the monster called Fibromyalgia. There's the chronic fatigue and lack of restorative sleep I mentioned in my last post. However, I'm sorry to say there are more. Conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrom (which I have), Irritable Bladder (which I have), depression (which I've been diagnosed with), chest pain, Myofascial Pain Syndrome, Raynaud's Syndrome, Neuropathy, Carpel Tunnel Syndrome (I'd be in big trouble since I spend the majority of my day typing on a keyboard), headaches/migraines (I've suffered from both my entire life), Restless Leg Syndrome... the list goes on and on.

I'm not trying to make anyone feel sorry for me by telling you which conditions I have. My goal is to educate those who have it and those who know someone who suffers from Fibro. You see, when someone suffers from FMS, they suffer from many other conditions along with the Fibro.

I guess my main goal is to help prevent the ignorance I've experienced in my battle with Fibromyalgia. I once went to a medical center for a kidney infection. Anyone who has ever had a kidney/bladder infection knows the pain and irritibility you experience. The nurse asked what other conditions I had, and as soon as I said Fibromyalgia, she slapped the folder shut, turned to me and said, "I don't believe in Fibromyalgia. It's not a real condition. It's just an excuse to be lazy and get attention. There is no REAL pain; it's all in your head. You make it up." I asked her to walk over closer to me. She stood in front of me, and I asked (please keep in mind I was exhausted and in serious pain and dealing with an ignorant person), "If I punched you in the face right now, would the pain go away if I told you it was all in your head?"

NO, I didn't punch her (regardless of if I felt like it or not). I did, however, tell the doctor all about it when he came in to see me. Turned out the doctor had a very close relative who suffered from Fibromyalgia, and it turned out the nurse was soon faced with finding another job. Am I proud I cost someone their job? NOOOOOOO. However, her ignorance (and completely terrible and inappropriate attitude) prevented her from properly doing that job.

I don't want others to go through the same things I have, such as the questions, the frustration, the depression, the feeling like NO ONE understands. I DO understand, and I WILL help try to educate and be there for those who need someone to understand.

Fibromyalgia is Not Just About Pain

While I'm at it (rambling that is), I might as well keep it up. I'm tired. I'm SO tired. The thing is, I have NO problem falling asleep VERY early at night. By nine o'clock p.m., I'm exhausted and ready to fall over. My problem is, I have Fibromyalgia.

One of the problems which comes with Fibromyalgia is the body never gets to Stage 4 sleep. This stage of sleep is when the body (and brain) restores itself. So, if you don't get to this restoration stage, you could sleep ALL day, but still wake up and be absolutely exhausted, because your body never got to rest and restore itself. Not only are you exhausted ALL the time, you are also in pain.

Pain comes with Fibro. That's a given. That's the main symptom... chronic pain. But, honestly, I've learned to deal with the pain part of Fibro. It's the exhaustion part that I can't overcome. Of course, stress makes everything worse.

When your exhausted, you are more easily stressed. Just look at a young child who is overly tired and can't help but cry. It's similar, and it's a vicious cycle. I was diagnosed with Fibro over 10 years ago. I've been on pain meds and sleeping pills. Yet, it got to a point where I was on SO many pills a day that I stood in my kitchen one morning and decided I wasn't going to do it anymore. The pills went in the trash, and that - was - that. Now, I've grown accustomed to living each day in pain. It's just the way it is. But, the exhaustion... the constant exhaustion... is getting the best of me.

Apparently, I've got a lot of catching up to do. I'm so behind... on everything, it seems. I'm behind at my day job, I'm behind on personal things at home, and I'm behind at posting on both of my blogs, which also means I'm behind at promoting my photography sites. Yes, I realize that you are probably sick of hearing about my photography sites and my lame attempts at promoting them. However, I made a promise to myself, and I've GOT to keep that promise to myself. Otherwise, I'll be letting myself down. I can't allow myself to do that. In honor of Valentine's Day tomorrow, I bring back an old favorite photo. Seriously, how could I not use this for Camera-Critters on the day before Valentine's Day... it's a heart! A heart that nature makes. How very appropriate.

Tomorrow is also my Grandpa's birthday. Words can not express how much I miss him. I could really use some of his wisdom and advice right now, and I could really use one of his hugs. I always respected his advice and teachings, whether it be about credit repair services or marriage or running a business. Well, now I guess I just need to hope I learned enough from him, and trust that he is watching and still guiding me each day.

The above photo was actually taken after the Missouri ice storm of 2007. However, I think it is VERY appropriate for now!

I worked from home yesterday, because the roads were bad, and there was a lot more snow predicted for during the day. Let me tell ya, we can't afford it at all right now, but I seriously have been researching laptop computers, because I seriously need a new one. I got my current computer in 2007, and I use it to work two jobs. Basically, I use it constantly when I'm home. At first, the letter "a" started popping off, and that darn letter "a" just started a whole chain reaction! Now, the letter "o" pops off or twists around and gets stuck under the letter "L" and causes the letter "L" to not work. The letter "E" pops off too. However, on Saturday (which was a terrible, terrible day, but that's another post), something really bad started happening. My key with the period isn't working right. If I'm typing normally, the period doesn't "take". I have to stop and manually push the button down very hard to get the key to work. You have NO idea how much of a pain this is and how much extra time is takes for me to get things done. UGH!

On another note, I thought I'd be O.K. driving to work today, but I ended up thinking I need chains on my tires, as the road was pretty slick due to packed down snow. When I got in the town where I work, there was a long line of traffic, and all of us were having trouble. I was pretty worried that one of the vehicles in the line would slide and then start a whole chain reaction with the rest of us. Luckily, I made it though. Now... all I gotta do is make it home this evening...

The above photo is from January 2009 when my husband helped our neighbor move the neighbor's cattle from one pasture to another. Today, we are moving OUR cattle down the road from one farm to another. There are a few differences... mainly the snow, wind, and cold! UGH For some reason, when Mother Nature hears my husband making plans to move cattle, she takes note and decides to make the weather absolutely nasty that day. I wonder what he ever did to offend her. Well, I certainly hope this goes better than last time. The cows did NOT want to cooperate last time and it was quite the fiasco. It's not like you can bribe the with diamonds, ya know. I'd LOVE to take some photos for you during this process. But, unfortunately, I don't get to be like Pioneer Woman and take photos while working on the farm... that wouldn't go over so well.

While I'm not rolling in the money... heck, I'm not even ready to do a life insurance comparison so I can leave my full-time work benefits behind and work from home permanently. I am, however, getting exposure and taking action to try to make something happen, like I promised myself I would. I even made some sales of some greeting cards.

Before it was painted a light blue, which can be seen for miles in every direction, the monstrosity of the new water tower down the road from me was a "pewter" color. Gee, can you tell I'm not real thrilled with the tower? O.K., I'll admit that it isn't so bad now that it's painted. It's just that they put it right in an area where I frequently see deer, and they had the deer scared away for quite a long time. So, I quit walking that way, cuz I was making a statement. Well, not really... there were actually a few reasons I quit walking that way. Anyway, I guess that while, I wouldn't do photos for photo graduation announcements by this tower, it's still not too bad of a photography subject. Maybe I'll walk that way again... maybe.

As I said over at Misty's Musings, with all the icy conditions we've been having lately, I think I need some life insurance. This photo was taken before the excessive fog and ice. It was really, really cold. I got the bright idea I'd got for a walk, because it's been so long. I made it back to our pond and turned around, because I was cccccccold! Shortly after this photo is when we started experiencing the dense fog which freezes through the night. It's been a very different and strange winter, that's for sure.

Contemplating My Mark...

I've asked my step-daughter's fiance (well, actually I asked my step-daughter) if he would like to be hired to create a logo and watermark for my photography. I don't know if he'll have the time, because he works two jobs, and they have recently moved into a house which they are fixing up and remodeling. Gee, sounds like Hubs and me, doesn't it?

Regardless of who creates the logo and watermark, I need to start putting some serious thought into what I want it to look like and what I want it to say. One problem is I would have to use my full name, and I'm concerned that will be way too much, especially in a watermark. The reason I would have to use my full name is because unless you use your first and last name as part of your business name, you must register and pay for a business name with the Secretary of the State. Since I haven't even sold anything, I don't see putting money into something like that. So, I need to think about and make decisions about how I want these to be. *Sigh* Some people stress over diets for quick weight loss, but I stess over decisions. ;-)

Ruby Tuesday Kong

This is Bud. He's my dad's friend's Black Lab. He's quite the character, and, as you can probably tell, he's also full of energy. He's solid as a rock, so sometimes that energy can hurt when he comes barreling at you, because he's just overjoyed to see you. Yeah, you kind of have to take a football player's stance and brace for the impact. My dad's friend wanted to get some photos of Bud playing with and catching his Kong frisbee. Of course, I was glad to oblige. I'm not one to turn down the chance to play with a dog or photograph a dog, and, this time, I got to do both. Bud would be a great Kong spokesdog, don't ya think? The makers of the Kong toys could forget about purchasing seo software; Bud does a heck of a job showing how much a dog loves his Kong toy!

Wildlife Photography

Over at Misty's Musings/My Dogs Keep Me Sane, I posted a slide show of some of my flower and plant photos. I also explained that, while it is very difficult for me, I am trying to promote my photography. Even as I type those words, I feel a twinge, because I'm fearful my friends will think I am being conceited. However, as I said over at my other blog, that's a chance I'm going to have to take, because I promised myself that this year I would strive to make something happen with my photography. That started with creating a website to make my photos available for sale, and, now, I'm going to have to promote that site. I may need to purchase some firming face cream because of the worry-lines I'm causing to form due to my lack of confidence. Yet, maybe if I DO force myself to put my work out there for you to see, I'll gain some of that confidence in the process.

Macro Monday Frozen in Time

On Saturday, we had a very delightful thing happen. We've been having quite a bit of fog, and we had fog Friday night. The temperatures then dropped below freezing, which 'froze the fog' and created this beautiful wonderland of frost everywhere you looked. I, of course, after opening the Camera-Critters meme sign in, wanted nothing more than to grab my camera and get some macro photos. So, I slipped my cell phone in my pocket (my first mistake), put my camera strap around my neck, and headed out the door. I wouldn't have to go far, because the frost was everywhere and on everything. However, I wanted to walk through and experience this wonderland. That's when IT started... my cell phone rang. I pulled my ear muffs off my head, grappled in my pocket with my gloved hands, and answered the ringing phone, thinking to myself that if this was someone calling to promote the best fat burner for men, they were going to get an earful. I took care of the call, and then I proceeded with my original intentions. Until... IT happened again. WHY do I take my cell phone with me on a walk?!?! While cursing myself, I performed the same ritual with the earmuffs and gloved hands and answered the phone again. After this call, I could see the sun poking through, see the frost melting off, and I finally gave up and went back to the house. Note to self - leave the dang cell phone at home when going on a photo walk!
