I love grasshoppers. That plate behind their head does look like armor. They are just such cool little creatures.
I once video taped one eating one of my bushes. I know. Sad. You'd think I'd chase it off. It was just too fascinating how well his mouth was designed to just mow down a leaf. That bush survived fortunately.
He looks positively primeval. Armored and primeval. :)
