Looking at the Sky on Friday *Old Glory & Tower*

WooHooo! It's Friday! Not only is it the end of the work week for most people, it's also time for the fun and wonderful meme where we spend our time Looking at the Sky on Friday! (Click on the badge to join in the fun!)

When I first heard that this water tower was going to be constructed down the road from us, I thought it would make a neat photography subject. That was until it was actually constructed. Now, I'm not so thrilled with it. It's a little better now than it was in this photo, because now it is painted. However, as you can see, it's a big monstrosity of a thing. Seriously, you can see it from the next town over (I think it needs to find the best weight loss product and quick)! It bothers me, because this huge tower just grabs your attention, and it's all you can focus on. You don't notice the beautiful fields and landscapes anymore... you just see this huge tower. And... now... it's painted bright blue! Nice. I was on a walk in one of our fields when I looked up and, of course, saw THE tower... but I also noticed something else that I thought was neat... the American Flag that my Hubs so lovingly hung was also visible. So, you may see the monstrosity of a water tower, but you also see Old Glory flying proud.

The sky is lovely, surely overpowering the steel monstrosity jutting above the horizon. A big sky view can overpower anything that sits unlovely on the ground...

Water towers are very visible, alright. If you go to my last week's Looking at the Sky post, Gateway, and enlarge it, you can see, very small near the smoke plume, the cylindrical water tower that was just constructed in my community. I was surprised to see it in the photo!
Nice shot, and the flag is in an interesting location...

I agree with Ralph, just focus up there and you will see how beautiful it is.

What a lovely clear blue sky lies beyond that tower, hopefully that bright blue will fad and the tower will fade into the sky, it could happen. ~ Calico Contemplations

Still looks lovely even with the water tower though!

I have shots of sunny skies while travelling!

When I went back east a couple of years ago, I was struck by the number of water towers I would see. I grew up in the midwest, and remember the towers, but here, we don't have any and I forgot about them.

Whether an eyesore or not, the photo is a good one. I'd like to see the tower bright blue 8v)

Water towers are certainly a problem. I've never seen a beautiful one. LOL Other blights on the landscape are cell phone towers and utility poles. The problem is, I don't see North Americans giving up water, telephones or electricity in the near future. :)
