Camera-Critters #32

Guess what time of year it is? It's the time of year that everyone is running around dressed from head to toe in camouflage, and all they can talk about is where they are going to put their stand, or what they've been tracking for months now, or which gun and ammunition they are going to use. Yep... they are all on a mission... the same mission... they will all wake up early and go out and sit in the cold (we are supposed to have a high of FREEZING tomorrow) and wait... for the 'trophy' to come walking in front of them.

This, my friends
is what they are waiting for

Yes, it is Deer Hunting Season here - starting tomorrow.
I can NOT tell you how many times I have been asked,
"Hey, you walk every day taking pictures - you seen any good bucks?"
I just smile sweetly, bat my eyelashes, and reply
"Maybe I have, then again, maybe I haven't. But, if I have, I'll never tell."
I usually get a head shake in response and guys mutter under their breath
and walk out the door.

You see, I really don't mind if they hunt and shoot deer.
In fact, I encourage it (I know, you are gasping in shock now).
But... not MY deer :-D
Because, you see, I too spend the entire year
tracking, observing, hunting, and shooting...
So, when I'm asked about deer...

(c) Misty DawnS

"HUH??? Deer??? What deer???"
(and that's all I got to say 'bout that)
(c) Misty DawnS

Geesh, I think I'm gonna have to bid on some Manhattan jobs to avoid such interrogation each Hunting Season! ;-)

Deer??? What deer? I didn't see any deer... did you?

Haha--on the not my deer. My husband hunts, etc., and I know it is better for the deer population as a whole. But I would be just like you about the deer I watch.

Great shots. I don't know how it is where you are, but up here in the north woods hunting is REALLY serious. They even close school if opening day falls during the week!

No doubt he's looking for a tree to rub his velvet off on! Nice shots.

I'm very glad that you will never tell.
They are so beautiful!

I'm with you Misty! I have a beautiful eight point buck that visits my yard. It's been bow season here. I'm hoping.

Misty: What a neat rack on that big boy.

Beautiful photos. And I think I would be just like you. I'm okay with deer hunting (for food, less than for trophies), but I would deny any knowledge of having seen animals of deerish persuasion during hunting season.

Nice deer shots. The buck in velvet is really great. I would tell where the deer are either...not for any amount of venison. Well...

Beautiful buck! Gorgeous deer! I'm not anti-hunting, and I've even gone deer hunting myself when I was younger, but now that I'm older, I don't have much interest in shooting them myself. They're so majestic.

Wonderful pictures of your deer sightings when you're out walking! The bucks are beautiful!

P.S. I'm glad you don't tell.

I HATE deer season! My first husband was a hunter :(

I played too :)

Good shooting Misty! That is one nice buck!

Keeping nice bucks around requires a tight lip in hunting country.

Hey those look like Santa's reindeer!!!

Excellent photos, Misty and like you I'm with the deer all of the way. Our rifle season doesn't come in for two more weeks. Once it comes in I spend most of the day and sometimes part of the night with the herd that I photograph most often, to try and protect them.

We show a deer in a field today a little bambi but I didn't want to take a picture being opening day of deer season you never know.

Gorgeous post.

He was one handsome boy!! They are always so engaging to watch...I probably wouldn't tell either, but when I was growing up I saw the other side of too many deer in one area and not enough food for all of them through the winter..not a pretty site, but..sigh, I probably still wouldn't tell! :) Nice sequence of pics Misty!

White Tailed Deer are cool. I like how they fan their tails when they run.

babooshka said... November 16, 2008 6:27 AM

They are oustanding shots, so majestic.
